So since there are parties & weddings & whatnots to attend for the next few weeks, I would like to know what the best hosiery is. My favorite tights of all time were these great brown ones I bought at the Galeries Lafayette and promptly ripped my second day back in Texas (always buy 2 of something that you absolutely love that can get ruined easily!).
What are the best:
- tights for matte finish (I hate shininess on tights; so far I like DKNY)
- tights that are opaque (so far I like ArdenB’s and don’t like Express’)
- tummy hugging undies/stockings (Spanx are okay, but I wonder if there are better)
- Sheer pantyhose (I go with L’eggs just because it’s a good standard)
So put in your two cents on which stockings, pantyhose, and/or tights you rely on to keep you tucked in and looking good for the big events in life.
Who thought the phrase above actually wasn’t an oxymoron? I am glad that the eco-conscious movement has gone beyond the assumption of hippies in hemp to sustainable fabrics to carbon footprint sensitive design that still embraces beautiful lines & patterns. After all, I am all for saving the environment and helping our planet last a bit longer, but I still want to wow people when I go out.
This site has some great items. The selection is extremely limited thus far, but what is there is good and in keeping with current trends. The prices are not bad—think right below BCBG boutique and above high end Express. Fairly decent for great design. I think the beautiful red & yellow coat definitely counts as ready to wear design, definitely good enough for the runways.
One thing we did all the time in high school art was constantly collect photos, materials, and thoughts that inspired us. It’s something that I still do today, whether I am poring over Vogue or idly surfing the internet. I am constantly drawn to keep track of what I see, what I hate, what I like, what I think. It is probably why I have a compulsion to blog, to put things on my StyleFeeder, and to collect my favorite pictures in my Style.com Lookbooks.
Whenever my posts are lagging it is a sure sign that either real-life has intervened or I am on Style.com or Stylefeeder. With the nearly psychotic rate at which seasons are being put out now (Spring 2009 AND Resort have already been out, with pre-fall underway right now), there are always new designs to pick apart and lust or hate over. I have separate lookbooks for each designer as well as summaries for the best and worst of each season. There are so many I have not even filled them all.
I just think the fashion world needs to slow down on the shows; let the designers DESIGN without too much pressure of the show. I am not saying get rid of them all, just tone it down a bit. Pre-Fall? can’t we just wait until SPRING is over to find out what might be in for fall?
The fashion world never ceases to amaze me, but I have no trouble using my free time to catch up on what is or will be in style (and whether or not I agree). As long as the shows are produced at such a breakneck pace, I will not run out of designs over which to obsess.
